The Duchamp, Man Ray and Picabia exhibition at the Tate Modern is worth seeing.
Apparently the three men were very good friends; the exhibition shows us, quite diligently, how each influenced the other and gives us the chance to see some of their most famous works again (Man Ray's rayograph photos and early films, Duchamp's nude descending a staircase). We also get to see Duchamp's alto ego and the others in drag (now, that's quite fun). And fun, in-jokes and innuendoes are everywhere in this exhibition.
Here is a review of the exhibition.
I’d highly recommend this exhibition. http://www.npg.org.uk/live/wocamerapress.asp
Its small but with some great works, particularly from Tom Blau. This display holds a couple of great shots of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Late 1960’s black & white, they are pictured in a deep, loving gaze. It’s quite magical.
There’s also a colour picture of Thatcher’s cabinet ministers taken in 1977. That’s quite peculiar. I found myself mesmerized; moving from left to right around the table, it’s quite amazing I think I knew almost all of their names. Surely it’s something to do with how these ministers played such a significant role in shaping UK’s economy over the last couple of decades. Then for the fun of it, I couldn't help take note that Michael Heseltine (minister far right) was certainly a handsome devil in his time. I can see why Margaret perhaps took a fancy to him.
